There is no-one better to fly with than a local who can add stories to the vision. Air safaris to Lake Eyre, Coopers Creek, Innamincka, Birdsville, Wilpena Pound in the Flinders Ranges, the Gammon Ranges, sunrise or sunset flights to nearby private stations or customised private itineraries.

 

1 Hour
Departing from Leigh Creek, flying over the Coal fields and Aroona Dam, this flight continues over Nilpena and the Ediacaran Fossil site, Parachilna and the Prairie Hotel, Wilpena Pound-Ikara National Park, Bunyeroo and Brachina Gorges, before returning via the historic township of Blinman and the old Nuccaleena mine.

 

Lake Eyre
See the amazing land formations as you fly north towards Lake Eyre. Take in the ever changing landscape as you head out over the Oodnadatta track towards the Marree Man and Lake Eyre South before crossing the shoreline of Lake Eyre North. Enjoy views of Belt Bay, Jackboot Bay, some of the lake’s Islands and Madigan Gulf. The return journey takes you overhead Marree, the Farina Ruins and the Leigh Creek Coal Fields.

 

Lake Eyre & Wilpena Extension
See the amazing land formations as you fly north towards Lake Eyre. Take in the ever changing landscape as you head out over the Oodnadatta track towards the Marree Man and Lake Eyre South before crossing the shoreline of Lake Eyre North. Enjoy views of Belt Bay, Jackboot Bay, some of the lake’s Islands and Madigan Gulf. Departing the lake, the journey south takes you over Marree and the Farina Ruins. As we approach the Leigh Creek Coal Fields, our extension begins; Continue over the Leigh Creek township and Aroona dam, on to the Nilpena Ediacaran Fossil site, the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna, then on to the spectacular Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, home to Wilpena Pound. After circumnavigating the pound, head North again to Blinman and back to Leigh Creek for landing.

 

Fly the Outback Loop – 1 Day
Depart Leigh Creek tracking north for the Marree Man and onward to Lake Eyre. Enjoy the sight of Australia’s largest salt lake by travelling over Lake Eyre South and North; Belt Bay and Jackboot Bay, islands and Madigan Gulf. Continue on changing direction to the northeast, and make your way to the unique freshwater wetlands known as the Coongie Lakes. Drop in to the Burke and Wills Dig Tree, a heritage listed site to soak up some incredible Australian history and views along the Cooper Creek. Next, a short flight along the Cooper to Innamincka to enjoy a leisurely lunch at the ‘Outamincka Bar’. Relax and enjoy the views of Arkaroola and the northern end of the Flinders Ranges as you return to Leigh Creek.

 

Fly the Outback Loop – 2 Day
Depart Leigh Creek tracking north for the Marree Man and onward to Lake Eyre. Enjoy the sight of Australia’s largest salt lake by travelling over Lake Eyre South and North; Belt Bay and Jackboot Bay, islands and the Warburton Groove. Following the river systems to Goyder Lagoon, straddle the Tirari and Simpson Deserts before landing at Birdsville. After a leisurely lunch at the Birdsville Hotel, fly southeast for the Coongie Lakes and a stop at the Burke and Wills Dig Tree. Overnight at the Innamincka Hotel and soak up the heritage of this outback outpost. Kick off the second day with either a boat or ground tour (subject to availability), departing after lunch for Leigh Creek via lakes Blanche & Callabonna and the northern end of the Flinders Ranges including Arkaroola.
